About Emberkom

What does Emberkom do?

Emberkom provides managed IT, technology advice, and planned technology projects for businesses. Its work connects everyday support, security, dependable infrastructure, and backup and recovery with a practical plan for the business.

Explore services

Do you only work with architecture, engineering, and construction firms?

No. Emberkom has deep experience with architecture, engineering, and construction firms, but welcomes businesses in other industries. The important question is whether the business needs and the proposed work are a good fit.

Is there a minimum company size?

Emberkom typically works with firms of at least 10 people. Smaller businesses are also considered, whether they need substantial project work or occasional assistance. Fit depends on the service needs, budget, and working relationship.

Do we need to be near you?

No. Emberkom serves businesses in the United States and works primarily remotely. It is based in West Virginia, with a focus on the East Coast. On-site needs can be discussed as part of planning; Emberkom does not take on businesses outside the United States.

Who will we work with?

Customers almost always work directly with David Yoder, Emberkom's owner, who started the business in 2013. David remains the customer's point of contact when subcontractors are needed, such as for physical cabling.

Are client references available?

Client references are available when needed and can be discussed privately. Emberkom keeps client identities and details out of its public project examples.

Services and scope

What is included in managed IT?

Managed IT brings together routine care, proactive management, security, support, and technology advice. Emberkom's normal engagement uses the full managed-service portfolio. A defined selection of services can be arranged when it fits the customer's needs and the engagement. The agreed services determine coverage; larger changes and work outside that scope are planned separately.

How managed IT works

Can you help with a specific project?

Yes. Emberkom accepts standalone projects as well as projects for managed-service customers. Migrations, new deployments, major configuration changes, and employee onboarding or offboarding are planned as Professional Services with an agreed scope.

Can you work alongside our existing IT team?

Yes. Emberkom can supplement an internal IT team with project work, ongoing assistance, or selected services. The internal team can remain the point of contact for its users while Emberkom helps with systems and administration behind the scenes. Responsibilities are agreed for the engagement. Working alongside another managed service provider is also possible by arrangement.

How do routine support and Professional Services differ?

Routine support looks after covered systems and restores functions that should be working. Professional Services handle planned changes such as migrations, major upgrades, and coordinated deployments. A small software installation and related user assistance may be routine support; a customized rollout across the firm is a separately scoped project.

Can you help us plan technology decisions?

Yes. Emberkom works with business leadership to assess needs, explain options, and plan technology investments and changes. This advice connects the day-to-day environment with business priorities, upcoming hires, projects, and longer-term goals.

Do you provide residential repair or on-site staffing?

Emberkom works with businesses and does not provide residential computer services, direct equipment repair, component or circuit-board repair, or on-site staffing. A suitable local provider may be arranged when equipment needs physical repair. An agreed on-site visit for a business is different from placing a member of staff at the customer's premises.

Can you arrange physical network cabling?

Yes. Physical cabling work is subcontracted. Emberkom coordinates the work and remains the customer's point of contact.

Platforms and applications

Do you support Windows, Apple, and Linux?

Yes. Emberkom strongly supports Windows devices and Linux servers, and fully supports Apple computers. Apple Business Manager is also supported, although it is not a primary focus. The particular systems and work to be covered are agreed for each engagement.

Do you manage Chromebooks or Android Enterprise devices?

Emberkom does not take on Chromebook and ChromeOS device management or Android Enterprise device management. This is separate from its work with Google Workspace email, files, and collaboration services.

Can you help with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace?

Yes. Emberkom has experience with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace migrations, email, cloud storage, and collaboration. Work includes SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Teams, and connecting local and cloud sign-in systems. Projects and ongoing administration are scoped according to the environment.

Cloud and collaboration services

Do we have to move everything to the cloud?

No. Emberkom assesses the applications, project files, people, and business requirements before recommending an approach. Some systems may belong in the cloud, some may stay local, and others may need to work together across both.

Can you help with Teams or a cloud phone system?

Yes. Emberkom's project experience includes Microsoft Teams rollouts and cloud phone system migrations. The requirements, existing services, and transition are considered as part of the project scope.

What support can you provide for business applications?

Emberkom has experience installing, configuring, migrating, and maintaining business applications, including software used in architecture, engineering, construction, and accounting. Assistance depends on the product, available vendor support, and agreed scope. Major upgrades and coordinated deployments are Professional Services; smaller tasks may fall within routine support.

Can you help us use our design or accounting software?

Emberkom handles the technology around business applications, rather than acting as their product support department. Specialist help performing work inside an application, such as reconciling accounts or creating design content, belongs with the vendor or an appropriate product specialist.

Does our application need an active vendor support agreement?

Support for third-party products depends on an active manufacturer, vendor, or provider support agreement. Without that support, Emberkom may offer best-effort assistance at its discretion. Product-specific troubleshooting and vendor coordination are generally Professional Services unless incidental to resolving an otherwise covered managed issue. The available help depends on the product, the issue, and the agreed scope.

Security and recovery

What does Endpoint Protection cover?

Managed Endpoint Security provides malware detection and remediation for supported computers and servers, alongside protection for covered Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace mailboxes and file storage, including Google Shared Drives. Developer-focused infrastructure such as Azure and Google Cloud is outside this cloud-protection coverage. Features vary by platform and agreed coverage. Appropriate disk encryption can also help protect eligible Windows computers.

Endpoint Protection details

Can you help protect business email and train staff?

Yes. Managed Email Security combines filtering and detection of harmful messages with Security Awareness Training and phishing simulations. Training helps employees recognize suspicious messages and avoid phishing campaigns. These protections work alongside the other agreed services; the training is focused on email security awareness.

Can you help protect our company's email identity?

Yes. Emberkom's Mail Authentication service manages domain authentication and reporting so receiving mail systems can recognize authorized senders. It helps identify domain misuse and sending problems, alongside Email Security. Suitable transport policies also support encrypted delivery between compatible mail systems.

What can you back up, and how is recovery planned?

Managed Endpoint Backup protects supported computers and servers and Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace service data, including mailboxes, contacts, calendars, SharePoint sites and document libraries, Teams chats and files, Google Sites, Google Shared Drives, OneDrive, and Google Drive. Planning considers acceptable data loss and downtime. Routine recovery is generally included within the service limits; catastrophic or substantial restoration can be separately scoped. Actual coverage and recovery objectives are agreed for the environment.

Does monitoring include fixing every problem it detects?

No. For a monitored business-critical device detected offline, Emberkom creates an incident. Recovery of a monitored-only endpoint is typically best-effort Professional Services. Restoration affecting a managed device or covered function is typically included under the applicable managed service, even when an otherwise uncovered dependency causes the interruption. Coverage follows the work and service limits, with unusual circumstances assessed individually.

Can you help with an active security incident?

Emberkom has experience with incident response and ransomware recovery. Start a support ticket describing the situation so availability and next steps can be discussed. Do not include passwords or sensitive incident files in the initial request. Assistance and substantial recovery work depend on the situation and agreed scope.

Working together

Will our staff have to troubleshoot problems themselves?

No. Emberkom guides the troubleshooting process. Someone on site may need to perform simple physical actions, such as turning on a computer, restarting a device, or replacing a supplied monitor cable. Staff are not expected to diagnose technical problems alone.

What happens when we need someone on site?

David Yoder usually travels to the customer when an on-site visit is needed. For locations that are not reasonably drivable, Emberkom may arrange a local technician or travel if the situation calls for it. On-site work and travel arrangements are agreed for the engagement.

Can we buy software licenses through Emberkom or use our own?

Many licenses for fundamental business activity, including Microsoft licensing, can be purchased through Emberkom. Emberkom is a Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider and typically resells those licenses. Customers can also purchase licenses independently, and Emberkom can work with licenses they already own.

Do you sell computers and other equipment?

Customers purchase equipment directly from the seller. Emberkom helps select and facilitate suitable purchases, including through its Dell partnership. Existing equipment is assessed against the work it needs to support.

Can you improve file sharing and business workflows?

Yes. Emberkom's experience includes secure file-sharing deployments, practical user documentation, application and workflow modernization, and automation and reporting. These projects focus on the tasks people perform and the business requirements behind them.

Support and getting started

What are your normal business hours?

Emberkom's normal business hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, Eastern Time. Work outside those hours or on federal holidays follows the applicable after-hours arrangements.

How should we request urgent help?

Create a new ticket through Emberkom's support page and describe the issue and its business impact. This is also the best route when David is unavailable. Submitting a request does not establish a guaranteed response time.

Is after-hours support available?

After-hours assistance is available subject to availability and the applicable service arrangements. Requested work outside normal hours or on federal holidays generally falls under extended-hours arrangements. Failures of covered managed systems follow the existing agreement and are typically resolved within that scope without the additional extended-hours charge; substantial work outside the agreement is separate.

Do you guarantee a response time?

Emberkom does not publish a service-level agreement or promise a particular response time. Support arrangements follow the agreed services and the circumstances of the request. Urgent requests should be submitted through the support page.

Open a support request

How do we check a ticket or access the customer portal?

The support page provides ticket lookup using the ticket number and the last name on the request. Customers can also request a portal sign-in link using the email address associated with their account. These forms continue in Emberkom's support portal.

How do we get started?

Book a discovery call to discuss the business, roughly how many people need support, and what is prompting the search for help. A short explanation of the needs and current difficulties is enough to start the conversation.

Book a discovery call

What happens after the discovery call?

Emberkom researches the scope of the work and develops a proposal for managed services or a standalone project. The proposed terms are sent for electronic signature. The work and responsibilities are agreed around the customer's needs.

Can you help us move from our existing IT provider?

Yes. The customer authorizes the existing provider to share the information needed for the transition, and Emberkom works with that provider to understand the environment and plan the handover. Complicated or sensitive transitions are discussed individually.
